Staying On Track With Your Herbalife Business

However, there are two other essential elements to your success, especially if you want to turn this opportunity into a big business. They are: work consistently and avoid distractions.

Sometimes you may not realise that what you are facing is a distraction. It may appear under the guise of a problem, a necessity, an excuse, a reason or an act of God. Yet, they are all distractions, and if you can recognise them as such it becomes easier to get them out of the way quickly while you stay focused on your goal.

If you treat this business as if you had just invested $1 million in it you would avoid distractions and work like your (financial) life depended on it. Notice how someone works a McDonald's franchise as if they just invested their life savings in it. They take a long-term outlook and do whatever it takes to make the business a success.

Here are some of the things I've seen come up that have kept people from becoming successful in this business:


1. Never really getting started. Don't wait! Don't worry about spending six weeks organising your desk and setting up a bookkeeping system. You won't sell any products or sponsor anyone doing that. Take the first step right away and start talking to people. You can get organised later when you have something to organise.

2. The business doesn't go as fast as you want it to. Some people move faster and some people take a little longer. We've seen people earn $500,000 in their first year, and we've seen others who have taken up to 10 years to get to that point, but they have two things in common: One, they stuck it out and didn't give up. Two: they accomplished this with no boss, little or no stress, little or no overhead, no employees, and the freedom to live and work wherever they desire.

3. You get busier at your current job (which you said you wanted to leave) and don't make time for Herbalife. If success in this business is important to you, at some point you have to figure out a way to give it the time it needs and deserves. If you don't build your Herbalife business and stay in your current job, you are going to work hard anyway for the rest of your life. Statistics show that by the year 2035, only 50% of all people ages 60-65 will be able to retire (compared to 95% now).

4. It's softball season (or bowling season, or beach season, or...). There will always be something! If you work hard at building a large productive Herbalife organisation for the next two to five years, you will have leveraged your time and can play as much as you want for the rest of your life.

5. Personal distractions, which are frequently used as excuses for not making phone calls, attending a meeting, passing out flyers, etc. These range from melted ice cream to burnt toast, flooded basements to flat tires; a baby sitter that doesn't show up to a toilet's overflowing. All of these are a nuisance and have to be dealt with, but they only need to take from a few minutes to a few hours. Turning them into "reasons" for why you can't work your business gets you distracted for days or weeks, and if you give in to enough of them, can cost you your business.

6. Real personal distractions: These are genuine problems that range from minor illnesses to forecasts for a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, rainstorm, snowstorm, etc. You have to prepare for all of these eventualities, but, unless they really happen, don't get distracted. For example: a few years ago there were terrible fires where we live. We packed our car and turned on the TV to listen for evacuation announcements. We were prepared, but the fire was two to three miles from our house and there was nothing more we could do. So I spent the day on the telephone, making sales, talking to prospects and working with my downline. It would have been just as easy to use the fire as an excuse not to work that whole day or week.

7. Major personal distractions: These include large proportion tragedies and traumas such as a death in the family, divorce, moving etc... All of these are major, life-changing events and genuinely disrupt your usual routine. The key is to realize that in almost all cases, we, as human beings, are resilient and recover. If the freedom and long-term financial gain is important enough to you, you'll figure out a way to keep things going. Throwing yourself wholeheartedly into your business may even help you make it through the crisis.

8. "I'm too broke to do this business..." Money is not the issue. If you are willing to work hard and talk to lots of people, this business will work for you. Many of Herbalife's top earners started out having to borrow money to buy their Distributor kit, many were on Welfare, and some sold their television set or other belongings to buy a supply of products. Many had no car and delivered orders by bicycle, bus and even roller skates. Many had no telephone and made their follow-up calls from a phone booth while standing in an inch of rain or snow. It really boils down to how badly you want to change your current situation. If you don't do something you will be just as broke in five, 10 or 20 years! Why not Herbalife?

In summary, the most important thing is to be honest with yourself. You know when your business is sliding from lack of effort because of real or imagined distractions. Acknowledge that you have allowed yourself to get off track and then correct the error. Then you can continue to move forward to your big goal of financial independence.

Money Management To Success


Before becoming an Herbalife Distributor, President's Team member, Ron Rosenau, was a successful stockbroker and financial advisor, earning a six-figure income. When he gave up that career to go full time with his Herbalife business, his clients and friends really took notice.

Many of them followed his example, and by following his advice they have also become successful. He has applied his financial expertise to the Herbalife business and developed a money-management guideline that is especially useful for new Herbalife Distributors.


People get started in the Herbalife business primarily to change their financial situation or their work lifestyle. They want to be in control of their time, have a greater earning potential and not have to report to a boss. What a great number of people fail to realise is that when they take on Herbalife as a business they become Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of their own company. This means they have to employ themselves and be responsible for their time and their business, as well as personal cash flow.


Three facts are important to realise and understand when making a commitment to Herbalife as a serious business:


1. Realise is a "major league" business.

2. Most people start as customers, therefore, retailing is the life-blood of the business.

3. It's difficult to be "open for business" without inventory.


With the above three premises in mind, it is important to know how to invest in product, how to reinvest and how to spend some of the profit you earn.


First of all, anyone taking this business seriously needs to qualify as a Supervisor as quickly as possible, because it enables you to buy products at the maximum 50% discount. It's well worth the effort to do this, because from here on it's a relatively simple matter to manage your inventory.


I have found that a Distributor needs to inventory enough products to handle retail and wholesale business without delays. For me, an optimum amount of inventory to keep on hand is at least $5,000 worth of products. Obviously, if you are just starting out, you need to work up to this amount. It is important to remember that you must keep some of your retail profits to buy more products to maintain a consistent inventory level.


Knowing that you are not going to move all of the product equally, you will purchase along the way. As a rule of thumb, take your cost of the products (50% of the retail value as a Supervisor) plus 10% of retail to keep aside, leaving the remaining profit to spend. As you are in the process of building your inventory, I recommend reinvesting the profit and the cost of the products until your retail profits have paid for your inventory and you have at least $1,000 to $2,000 in cash. The extra money can be used for advertising, promotion or buying extra products as needed. Once your business is self-supporting, then some of the profits can be spent on personal items.


An absolute must is opening a separate checking account for your Herbalife business. This will enable you to easily keep track of your profits and expenditures. If you are working the business part time, keep reinvesting all the profit back into the business until it can stand on its own. if you are working the business full time, invest as much of the profit back into the business as possible. Only take out what is absolutely necessary for personal expenditures.


One of the biggest mistakes people make when starting this business and becoming a Supervisor, with 50% buying privileges is spending their first profits on personal items and leaving no money with which to buy products for resale to earn more profits.


If you run a "tight ship", only spending what is absolutely necessary, you will have a foundation that can create a sound, life-long business that has endless earning potential. If you establish good money management habits early in your business, you will build a strong, healthy business that will provide you with the personal luxuries you want.

30 Day Challenge & how to do it!

YOUR First 30 days……..Use the Right Marketing System
By marketing system, I mean how you will attract your prospects.
Make a list of at least 100 names, including everyone you know.
Call each of them and try to sell them your product or opportunity.
What a formula! It’s simple. It’s cheap. It’s duplicable. But 90 percent of the people who follow that system fail!

Why? Because, the odds of finding a truly qualified customer or prospect in any average group of 100 people is very low. Maybe only 1 to 2 percent are actually seeking your product or opportunity at this moment – 5 percent if you’re lucky.
Zig Ziglar himself couldn’t find more than five good customers in this group. Ninety-five people would turn him down. That’s a 95 percent rejection rate – and he’s the best salesperson in the world!

What’s going to happen when our untrained beginner calls this same list?
Massive rejection followed by failure.
It’s not because the product is bad or the opportunity is not good or even because the beginner doesn’t know the right things to say..
It’s because the odds of finding two good customers or prospects in a list of 100 average people is very low.
But the beginner doesn’t know this. Armed with unrealistic expectations, novices call everyone they know, and after only a few calls, it appears…………. as if nobody is interested.
Because these people are supposed to be their friends, beginners take these rejections personally.

It’s painful. And that’s why they quit. It sounded so easy when they signed up. But in reality, finding those first two good customers was much harder than they expected.
But here’s the good news. Although a beginner feels defeated with only a 5 percent success rate, any successful marketer will tell you that a 5 percent response rate is fantastic!
It’s the stuff fortunes are made of. You can be ecstatic with a 1 or 2 percent response rate!
Here is the fundamental principle behind any successful network marketing business.
If you can find just one or two customers in every 100 contacts, you can build a fortune.
To be successful in this business you need a system that …
Dramatically lowers the probability of rejection.
Drifts through the 100 people to automatically find the five who are most interested.
Gets those five prospects to call you on the phone and tell you they’re interested.
Automatically trains the two hottest prospects to join you, buy some product to try…….and duplicate what you are doing.

Even if you hate to sell, suppose people asked you to sell them a product or offer them the opportunity, would you turn them down? I don’t think so.
Let me show you how to get people to call you. Still make your list of 100, 200 people but put them in groups………and take bite size by bite size.
In order to do that, we have to take the old selling paradigm and turn it around 180 degrees into a marketing paradigm.
Here are the paradigm shifts.
Traditional NetworkSales ModelOutbound:You call people and try to sell them stuff Massive rejection: You make 10 calls and suffer 9 rejections to find one hot prospect.Sales Model:You try to convince them that you have the best product.

High-Tech NetworkMarketing ModelInbound:They call us and want to buy. No Rejection: Only the hot prospect responds. The 9 cold ones don’t respond. Good. We don’t want to talk to them anyway. Who wants unnecessary rejection? Interview Model: We “interview” them to determine if they are the right fit for our product and opportunity. We decide whether we want them on our team … not the other way around.
In other words, we don’t do sales, we do marketing.
We talk only to those who “raise their hands.”
Enough theory. ………this is how the system works.

NB This is so important for a new recruit……….message, it works! I can do this!
Just a reminder about the kind of income we’re going to be earning: If all you want is to earn some extra money, you could always go intoo into the working world and get a part-time jot (what is your hourly rate?).

From that, of course, you have to deduct the hard costs: taxes, petrol, insurance, and child care if necessary. Then you add the emotional cost of this part-time work… dressing up, getting stuck in commuter traffic, dealing with a grouchy boss and office politics, sacrificing your freedom. When you add it all up and subtract the negatives, there’s not much left over. And all you have to look forward to is another week just like the last one – week after miserable week as far into the future as you can see.

The kind of income I want to show you how to earn is a recurring stream of income, one that can possibly continue to flow for years to come. Most people who toil in the working world have difficulty imagining this kind of income flowing into their lives. But those of us in this opportunity see it happening every single day. And the best part of this world is the lifestyle.
For me, it’s not about the money. It’s all about lifestyle. For example, my commute time from my bed in the morning to my office is 26 seconds (I know because I just timed it).

This saves me an hour in commuting time.
That’s an extra hour I can spend with my family.
That’s something you can’t put a price tag on.
When you’re the boss, you get to choose the dress code.
When I’m on the phone or computer (where I do most of my business) people can’t tell what I look like. And I like it that way.
There are no office politics in my home office.
And here’s the exciting part:
In contrast to the working world, there is no limit to the amount you can earn in the networking world. Low downside, huge upside potential.
That’s a good combination.
There is a saying,
"Poverty is when large efforts produce small results.Wealth is when small efforts product large results."

What quality of lifestyle do you want, and what price are you willing to pay to get it?
It takes a special kind of person with vision, to step back from the pressures of life and say, “I don’t want to live like this anymore,” and then to do something about it.
I say…….. Even though you may be earning good money, it can’t be all that good if it is attached to a bad lifestyle.
This worked for me in the early days, it still works for me but it works really well for new people. But especially for part-time people who cannot afford to leave their full-time employment.
Here’s the seven-step plan. Let’s call it the 30-day challenge.


Step 1: Set aside at least 5 to 10 hours a week.
That’s about an hour a day.
For most people, that’s difficult, because our lives are already full.
Luckily, I’ll show you how to earn this extra income by using a golden minute here, a spare moment there.
You’d be surprised how, just by reshuffling some of your time and refocusing your priorities, you can grow a wonderful stream of income.
Are you willing to do that?


Step 2: Think small. Don’t think 100 or 200 names on your list. Think 30! Don’t think big money right now ………be realistic.
You hear of people earning a lot of money ……………….but not in three weeks!
It’s just not realistic. So, let’s be realistic.
Shoot for a few hundred to a few thousand rands extra a month.
When the cheques have started to flow and you have proven to yourself that this is realistic for you – given your personality, your time, and your circumstances – then you can decide whether you want to go for the big bucks.


Step 3: Make a list of 30 sharp, opportunity-orientated people.
Thirty. No more, no less. From your list of 100 or so, choose people you know who might be interested in earning an extra stream of income.
Don’t put anyone on that list unless you think that person might be interested in earning some extra income.
I call these people hot market contacts because they are people you know – friends, co-workers, relatives, members of groups or clubs you belong to.
You’re going to be sending these people a very non threatening package of information that is designed to find one person… only one in thirty … who might be interested in what we have to offer.
I repeat, we expect to find only one person from this list. Two at the most!
Ask your sponsor what to send but we have such a selection!
When you have decided what to use (For a stiffy ~ I suggest download the Free Online website. Or an audio tape, or the e-pack or friendship CD (WFH) or the Pres-card….plus a letter. Produce enough to make 60 packages. The packages are called “30 Days to Freedom.”

Your job is to organize 60 sets of these materials. Using your list of 30 people, address and stuff the envelopes, affix the proper postage, seal them, and set the packages aside. Don’t mail them yet.


Step 4: Prepare another 30 sets of prospecting materials to hand out.
As you go about your normal day, there will be opportunities to meet new people, people you may not know but who might be interested in earning an extra stream of income.
I call these people warm market contacts because they are people you meet on a daily basis. I’m going to show you a very non threatening way to hand out these 30 packages over the next 30 days.
This activity is designed to find one person … two at most in 30 … who might be interested.


Step 5: It’s time for action. Drop the 30 packages or envelopes with stamps in the mail.
You now focus on handing out one package a day. That should be your habit … one package a day, not matter what. Do you think you could do that? For 30 straight days?
Here’s how.
Notice how many people you interface with each day. At lunch, while shopping, at the gym, at a school meeting in a mall at work. There are dozens of possibilities.
Your assignment is to hand out one of these packages to an interested person each day.
Ask…………
(1) Does the possibility of earning more than one stream of income sound good to you?
OR Would you like to add a couple of extra streams of income to what you are doing now?


(2) Can you set aside 5 to 10 hours a week…that’s all…….. let us show you how to do this?
If you get a yes, say, “Great”
“I’ve got an incredible package that I’d like to give you … Will you go through it?”
Get their name and number and set an appointment to call them back. Just before you leave, say this:


“Whether you want to do this or not, is not important. I’m just looking for one person who wants to add another income stream to their life or wants to improve his or her life dramatically. My goal is to help that one person start earning income within 30 days. When I call, I’m not going to try to get you to do this … If the package doesn’t get you excited then, this isn’t for you. I’m calling only to ask you what you thought. Just tell me frankly what you thought, negative or positive … It makes no difference to me. The only thing that will really offend me is if you won’t return my calls. When I call, just tell me straight, “This sounds good, let’s do it,” or, “You know, this just doesn’t sound like me.”

Step 6: Follow up.
This is the most important step. It is the razor’s edge between success and failure. You can’t expect to just mail out or hand out some packages and then have people start throwing money at you. We all are busy. Most of us need multiple exposures to a new idea for it to sink in.
Here’s how to follow up.
As soon as you’ve dropped the information in the mail to your top 30 people, call them all on the phone the same day, tell them you’ve sent them a package of information, and ask them to be looking out for it.
This will ensure that when they get it, they won’t throw it away. Ask if it would be okay for you to call them after they’ve reviewed it to get their reaction. If you can’t reach a live voice, just leave a message on their answering machine.
Some people hate to communicate with their hot market. Why? Perhaps they’re shy or unsure or perhaps they have approached these same people with previous opportunities that didn’t pan out.
In short, they’re embarrassed to contact them again. That is why sending letters is so non-threatening.
If they’re not interested, they won’t respond. If they are interested, they will respond.
Let them make that decision, not you.
It’s been my experience that in any group of 100 people, there are always a few who will respond to an opportunity – if only out of curiosity. Since the last time you contacted your list, a few of them may now need an opportunity. Your letter might just be a godsend. Don’t you want to be the answer to someone’s prayers?
In 30 days, you’ll be talking to a total of 60 people.
Here’s the question to ask when you make the follow-up call,
“Well, what did you think?” And just let them talk. Don’t be defensive, just listen.
Listen as if you were an employer trying to hire a new employee. See if you can select the best person for the job.
If you wouldn’t hire the person for a real job, maybe you wouldn’t want to work with them in your new business.
This may take several calls.

Marketing executives have long quoted the statistic that 80 percent of the sales take place after the fifth contact. Why is this?
Because nobody follows up! Those who persist get the gold.
Once again, it all boiled down to finding two people and helping them to find two people. Do you think you could do this? Let me show you how to dramatically improve your odds of finding those two people fast.


Step 7: Increase the probability that one person in thirty will say yes.
1. Do a three-way call. I highly recommend that you ask you sponsor, the person who enrolled you in your company, to be with you during the initial call – not only for moral support but to add credibility to the process.


2. Also include your sponsor in the follow-up call. Believe me, it will dramatically improve your success rate. Something magical happens when the two of you work together.


3. If you can, meet them face-to-face. Better yet, try to meet with your hottest prospects face-to-face if possible, perhaps over coffee. If you can, get them to a local meeting where they can rub shoulders with the kind of people your company attracts.


4. Use high-tech recruiting systems. You can also build credibility by directing interested prospects to your website, the company’s website, HOMs or STS.


5. If you would like your circle of Influence to try the product, why not send them a note saying, "I am experiencing something new and want to share it with you...............do watch the multi - media presentation and get back to me what you think" Email it or put it on a stiffy. All told, you’ll be distributing sets of materials to 60 people in your first 30 days. This is designed to find two sharp, interested people –


When these 2 become part of your team and buy a supply of products for their personal use, you will most likely earn your first cheque.

This may not seem like much to you now, but remember, this could be the start of one to four recurring streams of income. In your next 30 days of activity, you will be working with your first two people to help them find their first two people using the same 30-day system.
